Yamaha SU700:
The SU700 from Yamaha,
This is a great sampler for live situations! It has 2X4 continuous loop pads, 4X4 composed loops, for snarez, bleeps, hihats and the alike, and 4x4 free pads, that you can push to play the sample once (one shot type pads) Every pad has one rotary controller above it, that you use to control any parameter. For example you select resonance by pushing a button, then you can twist the knob above your pad to adjust resonance. Very easy to operate, even my girlfriend can work with it, producing some sick terror music! (Go Cindy, Go Cindy!!) I have the expansion boards installed, as well as the maximum memory. This way you have 6 extra outs, digital in/out and a SCSI HD connected to save everything.
The ribbon controller is great for creating wild filter sweeps, just rub your finger over the plastic stripe and go wild (I always go wild when rubbing the plastic hehehe, sicko man….don’ t get me wrong here! ) Anyway I use it in every song, it has a nice clean and loud output, the FX are great as well, you can use the audio input and put FX on it as well, Really a nice piece of gear. Check out the reviews of people on sonic-state, where some people hate this thing and others LOVE it, I for sure LOVE it!
